The Skinny on Free Traffic Exchanges - Are You Really Getting Quality Traffic?

Posted on July 28th, 2009 — in Traffic

The need to advertise on the Internet has produced some interesting advertising sites that promise free traffic to your website. The general idea is that you submit your site and in exchange for traffic, you open your web browser to a specified page and view other websites. There is usually a timer that automatically loads a new web page or you have to click on a symbol after the time has expired and a new page will load. By doing this, some sites claim to be able to send you thousands of free visitors.

Now for the catch…

The problem with these sites is the quality of the websites you’re being sent to and in turn the quality of the visitors to your website. While there are many websites that do actually offer something you may want, many of the sites are simply those advertising some new MLM scheme or some new paid-to-surf program. The quality of the websites for these reasons is extremely poor. The quality of the visitors is equally as poor because most are probably not sitting around all day watching websites in the case of those automatically loaded or spending quality time on any given website. The goal is to get traffic and the only way to do that is to move to the next site as quickly as possible. Do you really want visitors that aren’t really interested in your product? Visitors that aren’t taking a good look at a site that you have put time and energy into?

While free advertising sounds good and if you can get good quality traffic to your site with free advertising, then it’s a good way to go. However, the costs may be greater in the long run than simply finding a good reputable advertiser that will send you the quality traffic you need to create a successful online business.

Targetted traffic for long run

Posted on May 26th, 2009 — in Traffic

Targetted traffic for long run .

Traffic . The lifeblood of an internet business .

What can any internet business dream off ? Sales of course . But to have sales you need people . Not just people but people who are interested in the product you are selling . Below are listed the most effective techniques of generating traffic to your website or sales page .

A little warning first . You would have come across advertisements that you pay some dollars and the firm will divert traffic to your website . If you sign up you will also see a dramatic increase in your hit counter but rarely any sales . This is because the traffic that is coming is not interested in your products . You don’t want some 12 years coming to your website seeking fun but potential customer and newsletter sign up’s . Be careful before buying such services .

Here are the most effective traffic generating methods that will keep adding to your bank account in yearss to come .

1 - Get a good search engine listing . This is where people search for what “they are looking for” . They are interested in the product or service they are searching and it can be really rewarding to show up on the first page of search results in Google , Yahoo and MSn .

You can hire a seo firm or do it yourself . If you choose to hire someone then make sure they know what they are doing . If you choose to do it yourself then make sure you have good place to learn . Learning from people who are themselves novice can be harmful .

It is although recommended that you Hire someone as you don’t want to waste a lot of time learning something and then implying it . Let someone who knows handle the job while you concentrate on other methods and products .

Although if you have sufficient time , then learn it yourself and imply the methods on all your websites .

2 - Write articles that are closely related to your website content and add a resource box at the bottom with your link in it like your name , company name , a little intro and a link .Now send these articles to publishers and submit to articles hubs and article sites.Search google for article submit and you should find many article sites which publish articles. An example of a resource box is below this article . You can also mention some free offer you have in this box like I have done .

3 - Start a newsletter . The most important of the traffic program . I repeat it is the most important of any promotion methods you can do .

Once you have a large newsletter you can simply send an email and get many people ( subscribers) coming to your website to see your offer . People even have 150,000 readers of their newsletters.Just imagine that many people reading your offer with all the interest you want .

It’s not that easy although . Requires time, patience and a real good skill to make people read your newsletter . It takes only a click to delete an email.

People charge to write newsletter emails so the email gets read and acted upon . The intention is that people open the email and read it and click the link you have provided in it to your affiliate product or your own product .

You can join my free newsletter that is a course on all the three above . Getting search engine ranks , Writing articles and also email writing course and developing your own newsletter . I even answer specific questions from readers . Join by clicking the link below.

Remember the newsletter is one tool that drives targetted traffic automatically .

4 - Email signature. Add a small line of your website intro in your email signature .So next time you send an email , your website ad goes along . My firm “also” designs websites and I often come across poorly designed websites . I then send an email to the owners suggesting them the changes that they can make to have a better website and I also tell them they should contact “their webmaster” .People contact me instead . I never said that I can make the changes or this is the cost of doing these changes but the signature line speaks for itself . Do it with your emails also . Good work gets you references and more business .

Don’t send spam emails . I actually visit the websites and send email only if I see something that can be improved .

5 - Banner exchanges. I am not very sure of the results that this method gets but as said something is better than nothing . If you are not doing anything else then try this method . Exchange banner ads with other sites that are related to yours .Like if you are a website designer you can exchange ads with graphics designers.

6 - Place advertisements on pay per click . This is where you PAY when someone CLICKS your ad . Two places which have very good exposure are :

-Google adsense

-Yahoo publisher network (YPN)

You can bid on a search term and websites with related content shows your ad . Example if you bid on “search engine optimisation” then Search engine optimisation related websites which are displaying ads with these programs can show your ad automatically . Start with a small investment and if you see the benefit then continue with more budget . Have a good tightly targetted landing page here .

7 - Advertise on other high traffic websites . Get ready to have a nice budget if you plan on this .

You can also run an advertisement in someone’s newsletter . You must although first make sure how many readers they have and the quality of the newsletter .

You advertised and people deleted the email . What good is that ?

8 - Affiliate program . This is where other people promote your products for a commission you have fixed . They get a portion of money from each sale generated from their lead .

9 - Offline advertising . Advertise in newspapers and magazines with your complete URL displayed in the ad .

Always and always track your traffic . Try to find out which program is working for you . Where are your targetted potential customers finding you . Be there a lot and you have a lot of them finding you .

To sum up I have personally found that search engine listing , articles and Newsletters are the most effective of all . You must concentrate on these more than other methods .

Link Exchange: A Better Way for 2006

Posted on April 7th, 2009 — in Traffic

While traditional link exchanges still hold some value, it may be time to add a different tactic to your link-building arsenal. Why? Because it appears that swapping links doesn’t provide quite as much ‘oomph!’ for moving up in the search engine rankings that it used to, at least not for sites in highly competitive niches. Many sites that were on the first page of results and relied heavily on exchanging links have lost those coveted positions after recent search engine updates (especially the ‘Jagger’ update at Google).

Disclaimer: Only employees who are in the know at the search engines can say with certainty which factors determine rankings. The decrease in link exchange benefit is speculation based on testing and some consensus among ‘experts’ outside of the engines.

Build More One-Way Links

Assuming that it’s true about link exchanges becoming an obsolete way to get higher search engine rankings, it’s wise to find ways to build one-way inbound links. At the very least, no web site owner should rely completely on one form of link gathering. It’s never smart to put all of one’s eggs in the same basket, after all.

The rub here is that most site owners still pursue link swaps as their ‘bread-and-butter’ means of building links. That can play against you in your own link strategy if you don’t continue to offer exchanges. What to do?

What you need is a sort of hybrid approach. That is, find a way to appeal to the barter mindset of exchanging something of value for something else of value that most web site owners have ingrained in their modes of thinking. Along those lines, here’s a great way to continue building links without swapping them: offer original, unique content in exchange for a one-way link.

Trade Content for Links Instead

Here’s how it works…

Instead of offering to exchange links on your links page, write a short notice that you will write a few hundred words of original, exclusive content (300-500 is plenty) that the other site owner may use on his or her site. In exchange, they must post a link to your site on either their home page or another important page that is linked directly from the home page. Make it clear that your link must not appear on their links page, where it would just share space with many others. For the value to be equal, your link should get special handling in exchange for that great page of new content.

Now, expect not to get too many takers at this stage. The link exchange notion is pretty ingrained in most site owners. That being the case, there’s another part of this strategy you should definitely pursue.

Be proactive! Seek out related sites from which you’d love to have a link, and approach the site owner or webmaster with an offer to write a page of high quality content in exchange for a return link. We’ve been following this strategy for months with our network of sites and the results are impressive! You can expect a much higher rate of agreement from this approach than the tired old “I love your site! let’s exchange links!” routine, which is increasingly too time consuming to be worth the effort.

Some Important Points

First, follow through and write truly excellent content. Don’t just dash off a quick article that doesn’t convey useful and interesting information. Savvy web site owners will quickly refuse to post your link if you abuse the situation in this way.

Second, make the content you give away original and exclusive. This is your ‘hook’ - your best selling point. If you try to give a site owner the same content that appears somewhere else, you’ll lose a wonderful opportunity to get a great one-way link.

Perhaps the most important point of all is to use this strategy only with closely related sites that have high quality content. Be picky! Start by checking out the top ranked sites in your niche. Search Google or another major search engine to get a list of the top sites, then visit each one and, if you deem it worthy, find their contact information and send a short, polite inquiry to see if they are interested in an exchange of content for a link back to your site.

When other site owners approach you from the notice on your links page - again, be picky. You’ll be spending some of your valuable time to write them a page of high quality content. You will want a high quality link in return. If a site does not meet your high standards, take a pass. In all cases, if you agree to the content-for-link exchange, always request a link from their home page. It’s the best possible place for your link and, at worst, the other site owner will refuse and suggest a different page. It can’t hurt to ask!

Ultimately, the real long-term value in following this link-building strategy is the return on your investment of time. The relatively short amount of time you invest in writing the content you give away may produce dividends in traffic and higher search engine rankings that last for years. Viewed from that perspective, doesn’t this make good sense?

How to Get Free Traffic

Posted on March 11th, 2009 — in Traffic

Some people have done a lot online but failed. A man started his first site, it failed. He started the second site, then third, and fourth, and fifthall failing. I looked at his failed sites and I knew from experience why they failed. Nothing is wrong with the products, he just couldn’t secure people to buy.

There are two things to online business success: product and people. That is, develop a product and find people to buy.

The product is easier to get. To get a product, simply become a consultant. That is, you have to research and teach others. It could be an affiliate product or one you created, let it be something you have passion for so that you can be able to teach. But because the average human being is too dumb to understand, they will want to know more, hence you help by selling them solution.

Getting people to buy the product is the difficult part. That is why so many sites fail. You see, no matter how awesome your product is, if people cannot find your site, it will fail. But if you have traffic, no matter how stupid your product is, people will buy.

Then how does one get targeted traffic? Listen to this: traffic is not a transaction, it is a process. Process simply means learning. If you cannot trade with the trend and learn traffic tricks, methods, and new techniques, you will never make money online.

The report “Why your site is not making sales” looks at the merit and demerit of traffic techniques like link exchange, submitting articles, pay-per-click, search engines, email marketing, autoresponders, forum posting, popups, offering freebies, classified ads, banner ads, blogs, targeted hits, plus others, and declared “Traffic generating is full of confusion, guesswork, and scam. It is not ridiculously simple.”

The report, which you can download free at http://superriches.com, made it clear that “You will not get traffic while sitting on your pajamas, feet up on your desk, sipping your coffee. You need to work very hard.” It is not really hard work but smart work. Avoid traffic fraud like linking farms, automated link exchanges, and linking software. And instead chase cheap holistic traffic methods that will bring not just visitors but customers.

If the learning never stops, the traffic will never stop. You just have to be a student for life.

Internet Business-4 methods to bring traffic to your website

Posted on March 10th, 2009 — in Traffic

Traffic is the life of any internet business. Because most online businesses are unable to get traffic to their site, they end up shutting down. That is why 95 to 99 percent of internet businesses fail. During my time on the internet I’ve discovered what works and what doesn’t. If you are like me and searched for ways to bring traffic to your website you may have come across some programs who promise to bring so much hits to your website for a fee, only to find out that these are bogus claims. Anyway, the truth is not all of the methods out there work. You have to figure out what works for your kind of business. For example, do you sell a product and want someone to purchase or are you an affiliate or using Ad sense and want some clicks?

I’ll list some traffic generating methods that may be effective for certain or all types of internet businesses.

1. There are the good ole search engines. Search engines are a good way to get traffic to your internet business. But you have to find out how to get good rankings. Getting listed into free search engines and getting good rankings usually takes time and a lot of people don’t have the patience. Once you’ve built your website you want hits and you want it now, which is understandable. If you have good content and patience or have the funds for top ten rankings, search engines are always a good way to get unique visitors. This is effective with any kind of internet business.

2. You can always use articles to build your link popularity and traffic. No one can argue about the effectiveness of using articles to build link popularity and gain some additional traffic. Write a good article for ezines and so on. The problem for some is that they may not feel that comfortable with writing. There is always the option to hire writers. I like using articles because it is a good way to increase your credibility and build trust with potential customers. If you enjoy writing, articles are another free method to increase visitors to your site and gain credibility, writing articles is also effective with any kind of internet business.

3. I’ve come across auto surf and exit exchange programs that bring hits to your website. Some are good and some are bad. Auto surf programs usually work like this, you spend time surfing other people’s website and in turn you earn credits for hits on your website. Some auto surf programs do a good job with bringing unique and targeted visitors to your site, but it is not guaranteed. Your traffic would increase, but purchases may not. People on free auto surf programs or anything free are usually looking for free stuff. I recommend auto surf programs as a traffic generator for your internet business if your online business offers a lot of free things to help build customers. If your internet business solely sells products or is an infopreneur site then placing your website on auto surf programs might not be the best approach. Yes, you may get some hits but most likely no purchases because others on the program may have just clicked your website to get credits for their own site. You want real targeted unique visitors.

4. Viral marketing is another free and effective way of generating traffic to your internet business. If viral marketing is used right and done correctly, it can be a powerful way to increase your traffic exponentially. Some viral marketing programs offer ways to get targeted visitors while others just bring in visitors. When I mention viral marketing I’m talking about the possibility of receiving thousands to millions of visitors per month. Of course you have to let a few people know about your business virally. For example, you get ten people on your viral website or email, where they view your website, these ten people each get ten more people to view their website and yours and it goes on. As you can see, viral marketing appears to have no limits. I recommend viral marketing as a way to get traffic to your business if you just want to get your business out there to let people know it exits. Link Popularity and Your Add URL Page

Posted on September 27th, 2008 — in Traffic

With all the buzz going on about the importance of a site’s link popularity, the “look and feel” of your Add URL page (or whatever you have named your add URL page) has taken on an increased importance as well.

On a scale of 1 to 10, how would you rate the look and feel of your site’s Add URL page?

During the research phase of creating my “Link Popularity IQ” Web site, I encountered Add URL pages that spanned the full spectrum of a possible look and feel rating of 1 to 10.

The “Look” of Your Add URL Page

When you are ready to design (or re-design) your site’s Add URL page, make sure that the quality of that design is as high as possible. Possible link partners visiting your site’s Add URL page may very well make a snap judgement of the quality of your site based solely on the look of that one page.

Make sure you pay just as much attention to the look of your Add URL page as you do to what you consider the most important pages on your site.

The “Feel” of Your Add URL Page

The feel of your Add URL page is just as important as its look. If the “how to link to us” instructions on your Add URL page are not 100% clear and easy to understand, your potential link partner may simply go on to the next site on her list of possible partners.

Take the time to create an Add URL page that contains easy-to-understand instructions on how the link exchange process should be done.

An Example of a Quality Add URL Page

I hope you won’t think it pretentious of me for saying that the Add URL page on my site is an example of an Add URL page that deserves a look and feel rating of 8 to 10.

I invite you to visit my Add URL page (http://wwww.lpiq.com/add-url) and judge for yourself.

A Free Add URL Template

If you like the look and feel of my Add URL page, you are invited to check out my free Add URL Page Template (http://www.lpiq.com/template).

Please feel free to use the template as an aid when designing or re-designing your own Add URL page.

Summary

You should strive for a look and feel rating of between 8 and 10 for your own Add URL page. If you can attain a look and feel rating of 10 for your own Add URL page, so much the better. The extra time you take now to do it right will pay off handsomely in the future for the link popularity of your site.
